Red Bull Ring - Race Weekend!

Updated: Mar 25, 2022

Second race weekend is here!

I’ve just arrived at the red bull ring for the second race weekend of the season. I’m really excited for this weekend as the first weekend really didn’t go as we wanted it to. That is why with Jos we planned another test day to test out some new techniques and driving styles simulating a racing weekend. It brought back the confidence and brings us back to where we need to be for this weekend. The Red Bull Ring is a beautiful track with a lot of racing history with Max Verstappen being very dominant here every year supported by his orange army of Dutch fans. Sadly, no fans this weekend due to COVID rules which is a shame because I was really looking forward to some fans being at the track. But it will be a nice weekend starting Friday with the two practices, Saturday qualifying and race one and Sunday the grand finale with race two. With all the data we have from the pre-season test at the Red Bull Ring together with Max and Jos I feel very prepared even though we started off the cup not so great, I have found back my confidence and I am still fighting for the top. I hope this weekend will allow me to come back also in the driving stands. The weekend is forecast with rain all weekend, this is of course interesting with all of us having low experience in the rain with the new cup car. So curious to see how everyone takes on this new challenge without traction control and ABS so this will make it extra difficult in the rain. Very different from what I’m used to. The difference between this car and last year is big. I’m excited to see how this is going to go. It’s going to rain all weekend so that will allow us to practice in the rain. As I learned during my testing days the exit from the corners is important, it’s a very small track so the margins between drivers are very small. Small mistakes can have big consequences so that makes it extra exciting in my opinion. Track limits are important here, last race we weren’t quite on top of that so this time we’ll make sure we are on top of it and show our true pace and fight for the front. I will make sure to keep you all posted throughout the weekend and as always, we will give it 100%
